21 countries import Egyptian cotton and expectations are to increase exports by 40% this season

The General Organization for Arbitration and Cotton Testing revealed that 21 countries import Egyptian cotton, led by India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, explaining on its official website that the movement of Egyptian cotton exports links in the global market from October 2020 to September 2021, amounting to 88452.58 tons, about 1.8 million A pound of cotton hair.

In the first auction in Lower Egypt in Sharkia Governorate, the opening price amounted to 2,946 pounds in the bidding for a quantity of 3250 kantars of cotton (Giza 94 class), where the award price amounted to 4,630 pounds per quintal.

In Upper Egypt, 4,294 kantars (Giza 95 brand) were sold in the latest auctions that took place in Fayoum Governorate, where the award price amounted to 3850 pounds per quintal in favor of a private company, and another private company won another auction in Beni Suef governorate for 4398 quintals of cotton at a price of 3,825 pounds. per quintal, while the opening price of the auctions amounted to 2611 pounds.

The General Organization for Arbitration and Cotton Testing added that super-long cotton exports account for 5.3% of exports, compared to 94.6% of long-cotton exports, explaining that India imports 63.7% of Egyptian cotton, while Pakistan's account for 17.3%, and Bangladesh's is 7.2%.

In the same context, sources told Al-Youm Al-Sabaa that exports are expected to increase by about 40%, with a value of about $240 million, compared to last season, when Egyptian cotton exports amounted to about 1.3 million kantars.
