US-made helicopter crashes in Afghanistan after emergency landing

An American-made MD-530F helicopter of the Afghan National Air Force has crashed, after making an emergency landing in Helmand province.

The accident did not result in any injuries to the crew, and rescue teams were able to reach the area and evacuate the crew immediately.

The Taliban militants also claimed - as reported by the Russian news agency (Sputnik) - that they were able to shoot it down, while the government forces command reported that the accident occurred for technical reasons.

Pictures of the helicopter spread on social media, and it was not clear whether the landing was caused by targeting it with light weapons or otherwise, as the pictures show that it is not completely destroyed.
