The death of the former Prime Minister of Algeria, Abdelhamid Brahimi, at the age of 85

Former Algerian Prime Minister Abdelhamid Brahimi passed away at the age of 85 in a military hospital in the Algerian capital.


Brahimi is known for his participation in the liberation revolution in the ranks of the Algerian Liberation Army against French colonialism in the fifties of the last century.


After Algeria's independence in 1962, Brahimi held several ministerial positions until 1970, before heading to teach at the University of Algiers until 1975.


The late assumed the Ministry of Planning and Urban Development, until 1983, before he was appointed prime minister in 1984 until his resignation in 1988.
