Russia submits draft convention to combat cybercrime to the United Nations


Russia has submitted to the United Nations a draft agreement on combating cybercrime and the illegal use of cryptocurrencies.


A statement by the press service of the Russian Prosecutor's Office said today, Tuesday, that Russia has submitted to the United Nations a draft convention on combating the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes.


The statement added that the project takes into account recent challenges and threats in the field of international information security, including the illegal use of cryptocurrencies.


Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden had stressed, during a phone call, in the middle of this month, the need for constructive cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.


For his part, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said: "His country seeks to turn cyber security into an arena for cooperation with the United States."
