Japan supports food security in Mauritania

Mauritanian Economy Minister Ousmane Mamoudou Kan signed today, Tuesday, with the Japanese Ambassador in Nouakchott Ahara Norio, an exchange of documents related to a grant in the framework of the food assistance programme.

The Mauritanian Ministry of Economy stated that the grant, amounting to three hundred million Japanese yen, will be directed to the acquisition of some necessary products and services, in order to implement the special food program agreed upon between the two countries.

The statement added that the grant will be allocated to restructuring the strategic stock of the Food Security Commission, stabilizing prices at the national market level and financing many income-generating projects for the benefit of vulnerable classes in particular.
