Interpol issues arrest warrant for Ukrainian parliamentarian on suspicion of embezzlement

The International Police Interpol issued an arrest warrant for the former Ukrainian businessman and parliamentarian, Konstantin Zhivago, at the request of the Ukrainian State Investigation Bureau, according to "Russia Today".

The Ukrainian Investigative Bureau said that Zhivago was suspected of embezzling $113 million while he was the owner of the bankruptcy of Finance eCredit.

The Ukrainian authorities are also seeking compensation for the loans granted by the National Bank of Ukraine (Central Bank) to the Zhivago Bank.

The businessman rejects the charges, and his main company, Ferrexpo, considers the prosecution to be politically motivated.

Konstantin Zhivago was ranked third among the wealthy of Ukraine, according to "Forbes" magazine in March 2021, as his fortune was estimated at $2.1 billion, and his largest asset was the Ferrexpo Mining Company, which amounted to $1.4 billion.
