Greek TV presenter sacked for racist remarks at Tokyo Olympics

The Greek state television network ERT has announced the dismissal of its broadcaster, due to his racist remarks targeting a South Korean table tennis player participating in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, according to the French newspaper "Le Figaro".

The Greek Television Network said in a statement that racist comments have no place in the public television network, noting that it ended its cooperation with Demosthenes Kremeris today, immediately after presenting the morning program.

Krameris' comments were aimed at Greek player Panagiotis Giunis' 4-3 loss to South Korea's Young Sik Jeong, as he hinted at the Korean player's narrow eyes.

Greece's state TV network had already been criticized last week by Greek political figures and fans, who accused it of ignoring the participation of Greek athletes in the Tokyo Olympics, particularly that of Eleftherios Petronias in gymnastics, whose match was not broadcast live on Saturday.
