Tourism adds restaurants and changes the name to the "Chamber of Tourism Establishments and Restaurants"

Dr. Khaled El-Anany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, issued Ministerial Resolution No. 79 of 2021 regarding changing the name of the Chamber of Tourist Establishments and amending it to be the “Chamber of Tourism Establishments and Restaurants.”

Adel Al-Masry, head of the Chamber of Tourism Establishments and Restaurants, said in press statements that this amendment was one of the Chamber’s demands for the Ministry of Tourism for a long time, until Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, responded to the demand to change its name, which emphasizes in its main objective to emphasize that The restaurants affiliated to the Chamber are considered a tourist facility to which it is applied and subject to all provisions of tourism laws and regulations, especially Law No. 85 of 1968 establishing tourist rooms and organizing a union for it, and the common basic regulations for tourist rooms.


Al-Masry praised Dr. Khaled El-Anany’s decision, expressing his thanks to the sectors affiliated with the ministry, which supported the chamber in its demand, because it was convinced of the importance of highlighting restaurants as a tourist facility in accordance with the new amendment, in addition to the developments in the tourism industry in the food and beverage sector, safe and healthy food, and opening the door to investment in the field Tourist establishments, restaurants and cafeterias, especially in the so-called seasonal restaurants, “summers,” and restaurants with special places such as malls.

The head of the Chamber of Tourism Establishments and Restaurants explained that the amendment of the name of the Chamber keeps pace with the new changes and amendments that will be introduced to the controls of tourist shops, which will contribute to pushing the Chamber’s efforts towards introducing restaurants and cafes that are not licensed for tourism to the umbrella of the official economy, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Chamber of Establishments and Restaurants.


He pointed out that, through this amendment, we aim to reduce the entities that are not licensed to work in tourism, and in light of what was approved by the Public Stores Law No. 154 of 2019, which in its first article excluded tourist, hotel and industrial establishments from applying this law to them, considering the licensed shops, restaurants, and tourist and hotel establishments Those affiliated to the Ministry of Tourism are of a special nature and the Law of Public Stores does not apply to them.
