The Lebanese Minister of Defense discusses the procedures for importing and exporting hazardous materials at the port of Beirut


Zina Aker, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in the Lebanese caretaker government, discussed the procedures related to the process of importing and exporting hazardous materials in Beirut port through transit.


This came in a meeting, today, Wednesday, on the procedures related to the container terminal and companies in Beirut Port, in the presence of representatives of a number of companies and representatives of the Lebanese army.

And the Minister of Defense listened to the demands of the meeting about the amendments related to the proposals sent by the Ministry of Defense on how to deal with these materials.


During the meeting, the Ministry of Defense requested that their proposals be submitted for consideration by the Army Command and the Ministries of Finance and Works.


The port of Beirut has witnessed on the fourth of last August a huge explosion that killed 200 people and injured more than 6 thousand others, as well as massive material destruction in residential buildings and commercial establishments.
