The President of France announces his country's position on the European Super League and confirms his support for UEFA's decision




French President Emmanuel Macron announced the support of his country's Football Association and the European Union "UEFA" in their opposition to the establishment of a Super League separate from the well-known European leagues.

And in an official statement by the French Presidency: "The President of the Republic welcomes the stance of French clubs refusing to participate in the European Super League project that threatens the principle of solidarity and sporting merit."

The Elysee Palace said: "The French state will support all steps taken by the Confederation, the French League, UEFA and FIFA to protect the integrity of federal competitions, whether they are national or European."

UEFA has warned the clubs linked to the European Super League that they will be suspended from participating in domestic and international competitions if they establish a competition for the European Champions League.

In a joint statement with the football federations in Spain, England and Italy, UEFA said that it would study "all measures", which include resorting to the courts and banning participation in local leagues, in order to counter the competition's separatist plans.

In a related context, press reports revealed the clubs that agreed to participate in the European Super League championship, and according to what was published by the Spanish newspaper "Marca", 12 clubs have granted official approval to participate in the European Super League.

The newspaper said, that the list of 12 clubs are "Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Barcelona, ​​Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Milan, and Juventus."

The newspaper pointed out that the teams participating in the first edition of the European Super League Championship will be awarded 350 million euros for each club that will participate as a founding member of the tournament, and the first version of the tournament will be announced within the next few hours.

The idea of ​​the European Super League came from some big clubs in Europe, such as Real Madrid, which provides for a tournament consisting of 18 teams from the most prominent clubs in Europe.

The International Federation of Football Associations and "UEFA" objected to the idea of ​​holding the tournament, but there is insistence on the part of the clubs to hold it; Because it will generate more money for them.
