Russian Parliament: US sanctions do not and will not affect the Russian economy

The head of the Russian State Duma Committee for International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, said that the new sanctions imposed by Washington will not and cannot affect the Russian economy. Slutsky confirmed, in statements carried by the Russian news agency Sputnik, today, Thursday.

"We are a self-sufficient country," Slutsky said. "Despite the problems associated with the Corona epidemic, our national economy is growing and getting stronger."


Today, Thursday, the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, signed a decision to impose new sanctions on the Russian Federation, which include 32 Russian individuals and legal entities. Among them, six Russian technology companies have been accused of supporting the Russian cyber intelligence program, for alleged attempts to influence the US elections.


Ten members of the Russian diplomatic mission in Washington were also expelled. There are elements of Russian intelligence among the staff, according to the White House this evening, Thursday.
