Russia expels 20 Czech diplomats and demands that they leave the country on Monday

Russia today decided to expel 20 Czech diplomats and asked them to leave the country by Monday, April 19.

Earlier on Sunday, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassador of the Czech Republic to Moscow, after Prague's decision to expel 18 employees of the Russian embassy from its territory.

"We express our strong protest to the Czech authorities and will take response measures that make the perpetrators of this provocation realize their full responsibilities for destroying the foundations of the natural development of relations between our two countries," a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The statement added: "The Czech authorities have taken an unprecedented decision to expel 18 employees from the Russian embassy under unfounded pretexts," denying Moscow's involvement in the 2014 explosion in military warehouses in the Frbtis region.
