Islamabad: Peace in Afghanistan means peace in Pakistan


The Pakistani Army Chief of Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, confirmed today, Thursday, that peace in Afghanistan means peace in Pakistan, during his meeting with the Afghan ambassador to Islamabad Najibullah Ali Khail.

The Chief of Staff said - according to the Pakistani "Geo News" channel - that Pakistan's sole goal is to help Afghans achieve peace, sovereignty, democracy, stability and prosperity in their country, according to a statement issued by the Public Relations Department of the Pakistani army.

During their meeting, the Pakistani army chief and the Afghan envoy exchanged views on issues of common concern and the regional security situation, including the Afghan peace process, strengthening bilateral security, defense cooperation and effective management of the borders between the two countries.

For his part, the Afghan ambassador expressed his appreciation for Pakistan's contributions in preventing conflicts in the region and the continued support it provided to the Afghan peace process.
