In a related development, Sayed Abdel Hafeez, director of football at Al-Ahly club, revealed that his team did not show a good level against the Sudanese Al-Merrikh, stressing that Al-Ahly entered the game badly and played the first half at a weak level and was late with two goals, and the result could reach three, but the players entered The second half is relatively better and they were able to correct the path and equalize.


Al-Ahly qualified for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League after a two-goal draw with Sudan's Al-Merrikh for each team in the fifth round of the group stage.


Abdel Hafeez said, "The main goal of the group stage is to qualify and we have succeeded in achieving that. We will wait for the tournament draw to know our opponent in the 8th round, because matters are finally settled in the group."
